LA MIRADA, CA (JULY 18, 2022) – Capo FC continues to find ways to return to the spotlight.

One of the top up-and-coming amateur clubs in Southern California, Capo FC traveled to win to the NISA Independent Cup SoCal Region and earn a match against San Diego Albion on July 23.

"We look for these opportunities and Albion is a big club that we want to play against," Capo FC Owner Peter Carey said. "We've played Los Angeles Force twice before (and) we're trying to break into the pro league and do it right from A-to-Z. We have everything but the investor, so it'll be interesting to see how we match up.

"It's a big-time opportunity to showcase our players and if we do make it to NISA, to see how many can compete and give them a chance to show their worth. We're excited. We're going for it," Carey said.

The San Juan Capistrano, CA-based club blasted Soul2Sole FC 5-1 on June 30, and got one goal - from Parker Scalzo on a counter attack - to edge AFC South Bay in San Jose on Saturday, July 16 to finish with 17 points based on the NISA Independent Cup scoring system.

"I felt going into the game that we were going well and we had enough to successful," Carey said. "(AFC South Bay) has a couple of players that are really good. It wasn't our best game. We had some sloppy giveaways (and) we usually do a lot better at keeping the ball but 1-nil we'll take it."

This is the NISA Nation club's first appearance in the NISA Independent Cup.

All NISA Independent Cup Region Finals will be broadcast on Eleven Sports.
